The person who did my taxes last year (2009) did not include my tuition/textbook/eduction amounts. But I did claim tuition/text/etc. the year before (2008), so now I'm doing my 2010 taxes and on my Schedule 11 what do I put for 'amounts from 2009'?

Also, can I carry forward the amounts from 2008 to 2010?
Or can I still claim the 2009 tuition, textbook, education amounts?

Please help, I'm a young student, inexperienced, and want to learn this.
Thank you.

You can't carry forward from 2008 to 2010. You must file an amendment to your 2009 return.

Fill out Schedule 11 for 2009. Attach a note saying you want your 2009 return adjusted. You must mail this in (you can't adjust returns online).

Now for 2010, simply carry forward the amounts from the form you just completed. If you're mailing your 2010 return, you can put both in the same envelope. If you're filing online, no problem, the amendment will catch up with it.
